Who doesn’t love a good whiskey cocktail made for warm-weather sipping? This one gets an especially summery lift from a thyme-honey syrup and crushed ice.
1½ oz. bourbon ¾ oz. Amontillado sherry ¾ oz. thyme-honey syrup ¼ oz. fresh lemon juice 1 dash Angostura (@angosturahouse) bitters Simple syrup (1:1) to taste Tools: shaker, strainer Glass: punch or coupe Garnish: thyme sprig
Combine the ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake until chilled. Strain into a glass over crushed ice. Garnish.
Thyme-Honey Syrup 1 cup hot water 1 cup honey 5 sprigs of thyme
Steep the thyme in hot water for 15 minutes. Stir in the honey. Strain the thyme out of mixture, then store in the refrigeratorfor up to 2 weeks.
