Lionel Richie Schools American Idols

At 68, Mr. Richie is as busy as he’s ever been. There is “Idol,” of course. Beginning this month, there is also a return to “All the Hits,” the residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, a place where a proven draw like Lionel Richie could conceivably fiesta forever. There is the home-goods line, whose Instagram feed features many photos of Lionel Richie’s bejeweled hands touching jacquard towels and fine bed linens. There are also grandchildren, to whom the pop icon is Pop-Pop.
